Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) commonly used for portable electronic devices have been expanding their applications towards electric vehicles and other devices. Due to low theoretical capacity of graphite anode, it is essential to find alternative anode materials with higher capacity. To address this problem, iron oxide (Fe3O4)-carbon composites based anodes are of great interest. Herein, we report a simple and scalable synthesis of the nanocomposites of iron oxide and carbon-silicate for high-performance LIBs anodes. Our strategy is to synthesize mesoporous iron oxides coated with conductive carbon silicates using an ambient-pressure vapor coating technique, providing a novel and scalable process towards stable oxide electrode materials. |
