제목 Preparation of color microcapsule by using the complex coacervation method for Electrophoretic display
초록 The electrophoretic white / red ink for EPD (electrophoretic display) was prepared and evaluated by combining charged red particle (iron oxide) with charged white particle (titanium oxide). Color electrophoretic microcapsules containing poly(styrene-co-DVB-co-MAAcid) coated color particles (red, green, blue) based on aminosilane coated white particles (TiO2) can be prepared by complex coacervation of gelatin and arabic gum in the presence of a cationic surfactant. Microscopic image clearly showed the successful encapsulation of color electrophoretic particles. The gelatin/arabic gum microcapsules are characterized by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The color image film was prepared by applying microcapsules onto the ITO film with binder and adhesive for testing driving voltage and response time. The driving voltage is 15V and the response time is 150ms. These microcapsules are potential for the applications in the area of electrophoretic displays.
