A series of polymers based on 2,1,3-benzooxadiazole and the various number of thiophene rings in their repeating units named 1T-BO20, 2T-BO20 and 3T-BO20 were synthesized and characterized. This work demonstrated that increasing the number of thiophene rings in the repeating units of the donor-acceptor polymers could shift the absorption spectrum, increase HOMO energy levels and improve their solar cell performances. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices based on these polymers increased in the order of 1T-BO20 (1.66%), 2T-BO20 (1.71%) and 3T-BO20 (1.92%). Besides, we found that using DIO as the processing additive, the efficiency of the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells showed very different responses. The PCE of devices based on 1T-BO20, 2T-BO20 and 3T-BO20 after adding DIO were 3.65, 2.4 and 1.76%, respectively. |
