제목 Functionalization multiwalled carbon nanotubes in deep eutectic solvent via Diels-Alder click reaction
초록 Deep eutectic solvents (DES), a new type of cost-effective ionic liquid analogues, has been utilized to develop a novel and efficient method for direct functionalization multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) via Diels-Alder (DA) click reaction. First, furfuryl amine as a DA reactive groups were incorporated in to the chain of poly(styrene-alt-maleic anhydride) through ring-opening reaction. Then, the polymer was directly grafted on the surface of untreated MWCNT in choline : ethylene glycol (Chl:E) based DES without any catalyst. The successful functionalization of the polymer on MWCNT was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, TGA, FT-IR and TEM analysis. It is shown the reaction proceeded in a very rapid fashion (within an hour) and the use of DES significantly improved the grafting density with three times higher as compared with the reaction in water.
