Bioinspired technology is a technology that is inspired by natural structures such as spider webs, lotus leaves, and Nacre to enhance various properties. Here, we have developed a new type of ternary artificial nacre based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and Mn2+ cross linked non-oxidized graphene flakes (M-NOGFs) through pouring method into a plastic container at room temperature. The tensile strength and toughness of CMC/M-NOGFs reached 595.62MPa and 6.31MJ/m3, respectively, due to improved cross-linking reaction between CMC and M-NOGFs. For this, a novel approach to disperse NOGFs with non-covalent functionalization of melamine, still preserving intrinsic material properties of graphene flakes, was suggested. More interestingly, the artificial nacre with CMC/M-NOGFs has better flame retardancy and electrical conductivity (~ 161Ω). Therefore, the multifunctional graphene based artificial nacre have great potential applications in aerospace, artificial muscle and flexible supercapacitor electrodes. |
