Monolayers of a blend of poly(styrene)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PS-PEO) diblock copolymers and PS homopolymers were transferred to a MICA substrate after annealing with benzene at the air/water interface by Langmuir-Schaefer method, and films were imaged using atomic force microscopy. PS homopolymers in a blend are added to PS of the diblock copolymers so that a blend behaves like diblock copolymers of longer PS, which we prove by observing size expansion and shape transition of surface aggregates. This phenomenon occurs well when the size of PS homopolymers is smaller than that of PS in diblock copolymers so we show that it depends on the size difference between PS homopolymers and PS in diblock copolymers. In the end, irregular surface aggregates of a blend at the air/water interface are rearranged equally by solvent annealing with benzene, which is much faster than solvent vapor annealing method. |
