Water-soluble multi-shell quantum dot with high quantum yield and stability in various pH condition |
초록 |
Compared with a traditional fluorescent dye, semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have many advantages and benefits, such as high fluorescent signal, high quantum yield (QY), photo-stability and narrow emission spectrum. As a result, QDs are widely used to conjugate with many biomaterials. However, a toxicity of QDs limits its application in biology. To prevent the toxicity, QDs were normally encapsulated with silica shell. However, QY of QDs is getting significantly lower after coating with silica layer. To solve this problem, we developed the water-soluble multi shell QDs maintaining its high QY even though its surface was coated by silica layer. Compared to single shell QDs, multi-shell QDs show a strong fluorescence intensity and high stability in various pH range (pH 2 – 7). In addition, QY of multi-shell QDs after surface modification is slightly reduced. Therefore, this water-soluble multi shell QDs have a great potential practically for bio-imaging. |
