제목 Characterization and modeling of non-zeolitic pathway in MFI type zeolite membranes using fluorescence confocal optical microscopy
초록 Defects in zeolite membranes provide a non-selective pathway to the molecules, deteriorating their intact separation performance. Thus, the characterization of the defects in zeolite membranes is directly related to the study about membrane performance improvement. While general characterization methods including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), etc. cannot accurately identify the defects in the membrane, the fluorescence confocal optical microscopy (FCOM) measurement is able to visualize the defective structures inside the zeolite membrane using dye molecules smaller than defects and larger than zeolitic pores. In this study, dyeing with various conditions (dyeing times and dye solution concentrations) were applied to a MFI zeolite membrane in an attempt to investigate the defective structure by FCOM. Furthermore, the influence of defects on the membrane performance was calculated through quantitative analysis.
