Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO with NH3 over V2O5-TiO2 Aerogel Catalysts |

V2O5-TiO2 catalysts containing different amounts of V2O5 were prepared by a sol-gel method and examined for the SCR of NOx with NH3 in the presence of excess O2. V2O5 supported on the commercial TiO2 (P-25) and aerogel TiO2 prepared by a sol-gel method were also studied for comparison. Various characterization methods such as N2 adsorption analysis, X-ray diffraction and Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD) were conducted to probe physical and chemical properties of V2O5-TiO2 catalysts. 10% V2O5-impregnated aerogel TiO2 catalyst was superior to aerogel V2O5-TiO2, xerogel V2O5-TiO2 and conventional V2O5-TiO2 catalyst. This catalyst has a high surface area with anatase TiO2 phase. The most active catalyst also has the highest concentration of acidic sites on the surface. |
