Effect of carbonization temperature on pore characteristics in pitch-derived activated carbon fibers |

In this work, activated carbon fibers (ACF) were prepared from the pitch by optimizing the carbonization temperature prior to steam activation. The crystallite structure of the ACF was observed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The texture properties of the activated carbon fiber were investigated by N2/77K adsorption isotherms. As a result, carbonization temperatures were affected the crystallite structure and pore characteristics (specific surface area and mesopore volume). An increase of carbonization temperature induces higher specific surface area and larger pore size. |
