Synthesis and Characterization of amphiphoibic Surfaces Using PNA/Fluorotriethoxysilane Hybrids |

The control of surface wetting properties to produce strongly hydrophobic or oleophobic effect is at the heart of many macro- and microfluidic applications. In this study, we introduce hydrophobic and oleophobic surface using polynornornene anhydride (PNA)/silica hybrids, which has been modified by fluorotriethoxysilane. This amphiphobic and highly transparent hybrid coatings were successfully prepared by a simple sol-gel method. The prepared coatings also possess good thermal stability and chemical resistance. The PNA coating presents flat and smooth morphology. With treatment by 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (ATPES) and Fluorotriethoxysilane(F-Si), the hybrid films exhibit amphiphobic nature due to the low surface energy by fluorine moiety and the controlled surface morphology by the silica contents in the hybrid films. These hybrid coatings have also good mechanical surface hardness which is important property in practical applications. |
