We report a process that mimics natural biomineralization could be used to readily synthesize versatile core/shell nanowires consisting of TiO2 nanoshells uniformly wrapped around NCNT cores, without any adhesive interlayer. N-doped sites on the NCNT attracted Ti precursors and promoted their condensation to form a highly uniformTiO2 nanoshell with excellent coverage. This idealized versatile TiO2/graphitic carbon hybrid nanostructure inspired from an energy-efficient environmentally benign natural process would be useful for various artificial applications, including sensors, catalysts, and energy storage and conversion. |
