제목 Characterization of Alginate Depolymerised By E-beam and H2O2
초록 Alginate, a water soluble natural polymer, is widely used in the food cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Even though alginate has been used in a wide range of fields, high molecular weigh alginate limits its application of specific fields caused by its high viscosity and poor solubility in water. In this study, hydrogen peroxide and electron beam were used for the low molecular weight sodium alginate. Alginate solutions prepared by hydrogen peroxide and water were irradiated by electron beam in the dose rate 2.5 kGy ~ 20 kGy. hydrogen peroxide and electron beam irradiation are much more effective than any other methods in lowering the molecular weight of sodium alginate. Controlling the molecular weight of sodium alginate was charaterized by using solution viscometry, GPC, FT-IR and 1H,13C-NMR.
