Synthesis and Phase Transition Properties of Reactive Discotic Mesogens |

Discotic liquid crystalline (DLC) materials have attracted increasing interest, because of their negative birefringences as well as one dimensional charge and energy transport capability in mesophase, which are promising for application in electrical and optical devices such as optical compensation films in LCD and organic semiconductors in OTFT, respectively. The phase transition properties of liquid crystalline materials are controlled by core size, side chain length and non-covalent physical interaction moiety on the side chain such as hydrogen-bonding group, dipole-dipole and electrostatic interaction group. In this presentation, we report the synthesis and phase transition properties of discotic reactive mesogens for the development of mesogens with a broad and processable mesophase range. |
