Glucose is an important factor in maintaining cell viability during bioprocess. Therefore, monitoring of glucose is essential for optimizing cell's productivity of biological products such as monoclonal antibody. So far, glucose concentration is measured by off-line sampling combined with liquid chromatography. However, off-line sampling increases the risk of contamination which leads to batch loss. Here we propose real-time monitoring of glucose by using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) via bimetallic nanostructure without sampling. Bimetallic nanostructure is synthesized as plasmonic probe for selective monitoring of glucose using chemisorption of glucose molecule on the surface of bimetallic nanostructure. As-synthesized nanostructures are characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. SERS for glucose is performed with time by collecting the Raman signal of glucose. |
