Permeation behavior of membranes is one of the critical factors for many applications such as gas separation and chemical protection. Among these membranes, polyelectrolytes containing ionic groups show large water permeability, and they are also capable to block many harmful chemicals. Poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) (PAMPS) was synthesized, and cross-linked to prevent its dissolution in water using cross-linkers containing dimethacrylate. Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate were employed as cross-linkers. PAMPS membranes with different cross-linking degrees were also prepared to investigate the effect of cross-linking on vapor permeabilities for water and dimethyl methylphophonate (DMMP). |
