제목 Preparation and Properties of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene : Effect of Ziegler-Natta Catalyst Structure
초록 The ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) also known as high modulus PE or high performance PE is one of the specialty thermoplastics. In order to prepare UHMWPE, the polymerization of ethylene was carried out with various Ziegler-Natta catalysts under mild conditions, and the viscosity average molecular weight of obtained PE was found to be more than 1,000,000 at least. The effects of catalyst structure on the catalyst activity, the melting temperature as well as molecular weight of PE were investigated. The molecular weight of produced PE decreased with increasing polymerization temperature because not only the chain transfer rates increased but also the monomer concentration decreased.
