Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) analogous polymer , which can be used as a thermoplastic toughening agent for epoxy resin with good thermal stability, was synthesized by in-situ azide-alkyne click reaction during curing of epoxy resin with amine. Azide and alkyne monomer for the PEEK analogous were synthesized were analyzed by GC, FT-IR , 1H-NMR. In-situ poly (1,4-bis(azidomethyl)benzene(p-BAB)) / (4,4-bis(2-propynyloxy) benzeophenone (PBP)) click polymerization reaction and Epoxy curing reaction were performed simultaneously with different amount of PEEK. Fracture toughness of the prepared in-situ PEEK toughened epoxy were analyzed. Fracture toughness of these cured epoxy system was enhanced significantly only with 5 wt% of in-situ PEEK-analogous. In-situ toughening method proposed in this study provides an efficient way to make the high performance toughened epoxy system without increased viscosity of epoxy resin premix. |
