Solvent-Resistant Polymer Semiconductors Based on Azide Functional Groups and Applications as Advanced Electronic Devices |

Organic field-effect transistors have recently attracted great interest due to their flexibility, light-weight properties, low cost, and easy process to fabricate. However, conjugated polymers are unstable when exposed to external environmental factors, which limits their practical applications. The improvement of poor chemical resistance of organic semiconductors in electronics, a significant drawback of conjugated polymers, is crucial for their advanced applications such as chemical sensors that could detect chemical species via direct contact. In this study, therefore, azide functional group was introduced at the end of the alkyl side chain to facilitate both the enhancement of resistance toward liquid-phase organic solvents and maintenance of the charge transport characteristics through simple UV irradiation. Furthermore, chemically robust organic semiconductors that can endure wet-based patterning processes would be applied to photolithographic process without photoresists. |
