ENB(5-ethylidene-2-norbornene) has a great industrial application as a third component of EPDM(ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber and COC (cyclo olefin copolymer) monomer. Currently, ENB is being manufactured by the catalytic isomerization of VNB(5-vinyl-2-norbornene) using the base catalyst such as NaH/amines, tert-BuOK in DMSO, and Na/Al2O3. In this study, we prepared solid super base catalysts composed of Na metal and various supports and investigated the effect of supports, loading amount of Na. Catalyst characterizations using IR, UV, XRD, and BET also conducted. |
