Magnetic nanozyme-integrated ELISA: A point-of-care test for the rapid diagnosis of infectious disease |

Development of a rapid and sensitive diagnosis tools for infectious disease is highly important to prevent the further spread of disease and to enable effective clinical treatment. In our current work, we have studied a robust catalytic activity of magnetoplasmonic nanozymes (MagPlas NZs) and their unique multi-functionalities. MagPlas NZs are a core-shell structure combined with a magnetic core (Fe3O4) and plasmonic shell (Au) materials in a confined nanoscale area, simultaneously showing the dual functionality of magnetism and peroxidase-like activity. As a practical application, we introduced a magnetic nanozyme-integrated ELISA, which concentrates target analytes and amplifies signal simultaneously. The suggested bioassay can be a promising candidate for direct detection of biomarkers in clinical serum or urine samples, which has a high sensitivity rivaling to conventional PCR technique while retaining the simplicity and cheap concept of ELISA. |
