Fabrication and optimization of the microcapsules with organic/inorganic hybrid shell |

In recent years, with the rapid growth of technology, the economic impact by electrical fire has been dramatically growing. Under these circumstances, the microencapsulation of liquid fire extinguisher was intrigued for initial suppression to electrical fire without manual operation. The coacervation with organic materials and the pickering emulsification with inorganic materials have been the most suitable process for the microencapsulation of highly volatile liquid materials due to their low deformation temperature and permeability which reduced losses of core materials. In this study, we encapsulated the liquid fire extinguishing agent, methoxy-nonafluorobutane, by coacervation using bio-polymers with nano-scale inorganic materials and sodium phosphate chemicals, and covered the outer shell by various polymeric materials. Various characterizations were conducted to optimize the process of microencapsulation. |
