The biological control potential of entomopathogenic nematodes can be enhanced by improved culture efficiency. The overall optimal medium concentration for nematode recovery, hermaphrodite size, bacterial mass, infective juvenile yield and doubling time was 84 g L-1. At this concentration the doubling time of infective juvenile production was 1.6 days. The maximum yield of 2.4 X 105 infective juvenile ml -1 was attained within eight days. The yield coefficient was 2.8 X 106 infective juvenile g -1 medium, and maximum productivity was 3.1 X 107 infective juveniles L -1 day -1. |
