Synthesis of Phosphorus-containing bio-based cycloaliphatic epoxy : by L-carveol |

Epoxy resins are widely used thermosetting materials in various application. Most of commercialized epoxy resins are based on bisphenol A (BPA) causing serious adverse effects on human health and environment. In this research, to overcome these concerns, we synthesized a phosphorus-containing bio-based tri-functional cycloaliphatic epoxy derived from L-carveol obtained from spearmint. Cycloaliphatic epoxy derived from L-carveol was prepared by reacting phosphoryl trichloride with L-carveol, followed by epoxidation with m-CPBA. Its chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR methods. |
