Polydopamine (pD) functionalization originated from mussel-inspired chemistry is a facile method to decorate surfaces of electrospun poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) nanofibers for fabrication of an inorganic-organic hybrid nanostructure catalyst system. pD-functionalized PCL nanofibers can mediate the spontaneous reduction of various types of noble metal ions to form metal-polymer hybrid nanostructures at ambient conditions. This method can be used to generate bimetal nanostructures by simply mixing two different metal ions with the pD-functionalized PCL nanofibers at the same time. The prepared noble metal-polymer hybrid nanostructures have highly porous structures and show a stable catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol. |
