Tannic acid has ability to prevent sticking of drug carriers or peptides to the glycocalyx layer of vascular endothelial cells, which enables drug delivery with high targeting efficiency. In this study, we propose TANNylated liposome system of which lipid shell is engineered with tannic acid. For this, we fabricated the TANNylated liposome by employing thiol-maleimide reaction between tannic acid deriatives and lipid. To evaluate the binding affinity, the interaction force between TANNylated liposome and glycocalyx layer is characterized via isothermal titration calorimetry. Finally, we showed the TANNylated liposome has potential for high-efficiency cancer cell apotopsis inducement, thus promising practical applicability as a cancer cell therapy. |
