Fabrication of Transparent Zirconium Siloxane Methacrylate Hybrid Materials Using Sol-Gel Synthesized Oligosiloxane Resin. |

Sol-gel derived hybrid materials (hybrimers) have been studied for many optical applications since they owns excellent optical characteristics as well as tunability of refractive index. For practical applications, high refractive index is required to design efficient optical devices. Zirconium was incorporated in siloxane structure in methacrylate hybrimer to fabricate zirconium siloxane methacrylate hybrid material (ZSM hybrimer) with high refractive index. Highly condensed ZSM resin was synthesized by solvent assisted sol-gel reaction of 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate (MPTS), diphenylsilanediol (DPSD) and zirconium n-propoxide chelated with methacrylic acid. High condensation degree over 90% and Si-O-Zr bond formation is confirmed. The resin was spin coated and photo-cured to fabricate highly transparent ZSM hybrimer coating films . Refractive index and dielectric constant of the film increases according to the zirconium contents to obtain high refractive index up to 1.59 |
