Second generation biofuel produced form woody biomass is expected to be an effective avenue for reducing fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in road transport. It is important that under the new Korean initiative, pilot scale studies evolve practices to produce next generation liquid biofuels. Whereas the first generation of biofuels is based on well established technologies, the development of processes. In fast pyrolysis, bio-oil is produced by rapidly heating biomass to intermediate temperature (450 ~ 600 ℃) in the absence of any external oxygen followed by rapid quenching of the resulting vapor. Bio-oil has poor properties due to the complexity of composition of bio-oil so as to use effectively. This study was focused on a fuel characteristics of bio-oil from biomass by using fast pyrolysis and application including boiler, engine and transportation. |
