In this study, we prepared gas separation membranes by using semi-alicyclic bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BCDA) and 5-(2,5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic dianhydride (DOCDA) with 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) aromatic diamine. The synthesized polyimides had high solubility in the polar solvent and thermal stability. Gas permeation behavior was affected by the kinetic diameter of the gas and the fraction free volume of the polyimide, indicating that it was influenced by the 'solution-diffusion mechanism'. Also, as the BCDA dianhydride content was increased in polyimide, the gas permeability was increased, which is the result of the increase of d-spacing caused by BCDA through XRD analysis. Compared with the gas permeation performance of commercial polyimides, better or similar results indicate that a high permselective membrane was made and expected for future commercial use. |
