Flash Points and Fire Points of n-Nonane and n-Decane Using Tag Open-Cup Apparatus |

The flash points and the fire points are the best known and most widely used flammability property for the evaluation of the flammability hazard of flammable and combustible liquids. In this study, the flash point and fire point were measured to present raw data of the flammable risk assessment for n-nonane and n-decane, using Tag open-cup apparatus(ASTM D 1310-86). The flash point and the fire point of n-nonane were 39℃ and 46℃, respectively. The flash point and the fire point of n-decane were 54℃ and 62.5℃, respectively. The measured fire point of n-nonane was compared with the calculated values based on 1,30 times stoichiometric concentration. The measured fire point of n-decane were compared with the calculated values based on 1.27 times stoichiometric concentration. |
