Synthesis New Naphthoic-Liquid Crystalline Polymer and Process LCP/Alumina Composites for High Thermal Conductivity in Thermal interface Materials |

The liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) is good to Thermal Interface Material for reprocessing, high thermal conductivity and low specific gravity. As LCP requires high processing temperature, we synthesized new naphthoic-LCPs introducing the 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (HNA) monomer to decrease the Tg of product with 4-aminophenol and isophthalic acid and changed the react ratios to regulate the processing temperature. The synthesized LCPs show different thermal properties and nematic phase. After the LCPs were dissolved in NMP solvent, added Alumina filler to 50 vol% for composite. From measured thermal diffusivity and specific heat, we can calculate the thermal conductivity. When thermal conductivities are plotted with Agari model estimating equation, all data show high conductivity and fitted quite well with model. In conclusion, we synthesized naphthoic-LCPs showing various glass transition temperature and obtained high thermal conductivity product with alumina. |
