Natural tissue presents unique micro-structure which is closely related to its functions. To engineer tissue with structural characteristics, various techniques have been developed including soft lithography, micro fluidic channel as assay or therapeutic methods. However, it is hard to harvest and transfer pre-organized cells with defined structure to targets without scaffold. To address this limitation, we have been developing a cell layer transfer system induced by size expansion of thermo-sensitive hydrogel. In this study, we created structurally regulated cell strip on the hydrogel via micro-contact print of polydopamine. Cells were aligned along the direction of patterns and maintained their viability and structure after transfer. Furthermore, various types of patterns were prepared, which modulated cell adhesion. Our results showed that advanced cell strip transfer system can be an effective method for constructing and harvesting microtissue with complex structures. |
