제목 Steam reforming of methanol over a Cu/SnO2/SiO2 catalysts
초록 Hydrogen may become an important fuel in the future for use as an energy carrier for electric vehicles and electric plants. There exist several routes for hydrogen production from primary fuels. A promising route is the steam reforming of methanol. The Cu-containing catalysts showed particular high activity and high selectivity for the steam reforming of methanol.
The objectives of this study are the characterization of the Cu/SnO2/SiO2 catalysts prepared with different copper precursor salts and the investigation of their activity in steam reforming of methanol. The catalysts were characterized by BET, CO adsorption, and FT-IR.
The Cu/SnO2/SiO2catalyst, prepared with copper nitrate salt, showed highest activity, which is associated with the highly dispersed Cu particles. The selectivity to H2 decreased with an increase in the acid amounts on the surface of the Cu/Sn2/SiO2catalysts under the same reaction conditions.
