제목 Soft, stretchable and tough protein based hydrogel
초록 Hydrogels based on protein are attractive candidate for biomedical application and tissue engineering due to their high biocompatibility. But, their poor mechanical properties such as low stretchability, brittleness to crack limit the use. Protein based hydrogels are generally cross-linked by physical crosslinking system which is relatively weak to crack propagation.  

Herein, casein-poly(acrylamide) hybrid gels which have interpenetrating network structure show high stretchability and fracture energy. Casein is protein from bovine milk, poly(acrylamide) is used in manufacturing soft lenses. Casein-poly(acrylamide) hybrid gels were synthesized by UV induced radical polymerization of acrylamide and coagulation of casein.  

Casein hydrogel with polymeric matrix is extremely tough and stretchable with low modulus. Stretch of hybrid gel was measured to 30 and fracture energy of hybrid gel was measured to 1500 J/m2.
